The Ministry of Industry and Trade has recommended to ensure the quality of exported face masks

The garment industry was suffering an unprecedented crisis due to COVID-19, but the pandemic also brought significant opportunities for Vietnam to become the world’s face mask factory.
In order to export face masks and medical protective clothing to the EU, they must get CE marking which indicated that a product had been assessed by the manufacturers and deemed to meet EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
However, due to the sudden increase in demand, cloth and medical masks have shown signs of losing control of quality. There are many firms using quality certificates issued by inspection and certification agencies that are not reputable and competent. This causes a bad influence on Vietnam's export image.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has made official recommendations to ensure the quality of exported masks. Accordingly, exporters of masks and personal protective equipment should thoroughly understand the units with the functions of inspection, testing, verification, and certification of standards, conformity assessment, especially when businesses want to issue CE certification for export to the EU market and FDA certificate for export to US market.
Vinacontrol is the unit recommended by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to carry out inspection and certification of exported masks.
