Press Releases: Incorrect information about Vinacontrol issuing Certificate of Origin (C/O)

On July 8, 2020, Vinacontrol Group Joint Stock Company (Vinacontrol) received a report on the case of an inspection company that issued a certificate of origin (C/O) on the VTV1 Business Finance News, at 7 a.m. on July 8, 2020. In which, there is a reference to Vinacontrol by the representative of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Center for Commercial Document Certification: “... in 2015, we discovered a case of an inspection company of Vinacontrol that inspected to issue certificates of origin for export shipments of a company ...”

However, in fact, Vinacontrol Group does not perform any activities related to the issuance of certificates of origin - C/O. Besides, in 2015 and the past years, Vinacontrol Group received no feedback on issuing certification of origin.

As soon as receiving the information about this case, Vinacontrol Group representatives had a direct meeting with VCCI’s Center for Commercial Document Certification for clarification. Accordingly, the representative of VCCI confirmed to have misread the name of another company to Vinacontrol in the VTV1 Business and Financial News.

On July 14, 2020, the Center for Commercial Document Certification - VCCI has issued Official Letter No. 1088/PTM-TTXN, sent to Vinacontrol Group Joint Stock Company to confirm that the above incident happened by mistake and will coordinate with Vietnam television, VTV24 news center, VCCI communication channels, and the authorities to correct the information.

Although information about Vinacontrol issues Certificate of Origin (C/O) for export shipments are incorrect and corrected by related parties, the mention in the negative and untrue content has greatly affected the brand reputation and business activities of Vinacontrol. Therefore, in the coming time, representatives of Vinacontrol will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure information about the incident is fully and appropriately rectified.
