Beware of counterfeit certificates, taking advantage of Vinacontrol's reputation during Covid-19

The outbreak of respiratory infections caused by a new strain of the Corona virus has spread worldwide, resulting in a surge in demand for medical masks, protective gear and other medical equipment and supplies. In order to make illicit profits, some subjects do not hesitate to produce and distribute counterfeit face masks and poor-quality protective products. Even the quality certificates for medical masks and protective gear are also counterfeited to deceive the confidence of buyers.

Through reflection from businesses both in domestic and abroad, Vinacontrol Group discovered a number of certificates related to the masked goods made in the form of Vinacontrol certificate, in order to take advantage of Vinacontrol's reputation and brand in the market.

Specifically, in the case below, two electronic documents with the same identification number, the same original content, but the names of two different branches of Vinacontrol Group. One of them was even cut, editted with thread borders and anti-counterfeiting stamps of Vinacontrol. However, Vinacontrol Da Nang did not issue certificates to the business with manufacturers addresses located in Hanoi.

On page 2, both counterfeit certificates continue to use the same serial number, same date of issue, the same original content but different in the form of seals and signatures of the representative of the independent inspection branch.

Medical masks are products that play a protective role for users against the risk of disease transmission. The Vietnamese Prime Minister has also permitted the export of medical masks, protective gear and anti-Covid-19 equipment.

The medical mask products have false test results, are potentially unsafe for users, are threatening the interests of buyers and even seriously affecting the brand of medical equipment and supplies for international use. This action is contrary to the efforts of the Government of Vietnam and the business community during the past time.

Due to the serious nature of the case, records and evidence related to the case are being transferred to authorities to coordinate the investigation.

After publishing "counterfeit certificates" issue in Vinacontrol's website, on May 27, 2020, Viet Han Technology Investment Co., Ltd., tax code 0106799015, registered address No. 18, niche 31, lane 342, Khuong Dinh Street, Ha Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi city has confirmed in writing that "We are not a unit forging these verification certificates, but one of the victims".
