From its earliest import and export consignments to the exacting standards of today’s global supply chains, Vinacontrol’s 69-year journey (1957–2026) is a story of continuity, transformation and the ever-widening value of trust.
Vinacontrol was founded in 1957 as the Department of Import-Export Goods Inspection under the Ministry of Trade (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade), making it the first inspection body in Vietnam. Beyond laying the foundations of the country’s conformity assessment sector, Vinacontrol has remained a leading force in the field for many decades.
From its earliest days, Vinacontrol shouldered a special responsibility: to test and inspect import and export goods, helping to safeguard the nation’s commercial interests and build confidence in Vietnamese products in international markets. From production facilities and ports to international trade routes, generations of Vinacontrol inspectors have left their mark on the expansion of trade, the affirmation of quality and the rising standing of Vietnamese goods.
Through key milestones in its organisational and governance model, including the merger in 1988, equitisation in 2005 and the completion of state divestment in 2024, Vinacontrol has continually strengthened its capabilities, expanded its network and adapted to market requirements. In 2025, its consolidated revenue exceeded VND 1,000 billion for the first time, marking a significant step forward in the Group’s development.
Where its core task was once to verify the quality of a single consignment, Vinacontrol has since expanded into testing, inspection, certification and specialist conformity assessment services. Drawing on competence recognised under international standards, it works alongside businesses to control quality, strengthen competitiveness and meet the demands of global integration.
The value of each assessment result lies not only in a certificate, but in the tangible benefits it creates: Vietnamese goods gain a firmer basis for earning trust in international markets; workplaces are safer and better controlled; and consumers are better protected against product quality risks.
In response to new requirements on carbon emissions, traceability and supply chain transparency, particularly under European Union regulations such as the CBAM and the EUDR, Vinacontrol continues to develop its capabilities in greenhouse gas assessment, emissions reduction advisory and ESG, as well as the application of technology in conformity assessment. In doing so, it supports businesses on their journey towards green transition and sustainable integration.
Over 69 years, from inspecting individual consignments to helping assure the quality and transparency of supply chains, the scope of its work may have changed, but its core values remain intact: Independence – Neutrality – Objectivity.
As it enters its 70th year, Vinacontrol will continue to build on its legacy of trust, draw on its professional expertise and create new value, so that every assessment result is not merely a confirmation of quality, but a foundation for trust, safety and sustainable development.
